We have fun each winter poring over seed catalogs to select which specialty and heritage varieties of pumpkins, squash & gourds to grow in the upcoming season. We seek out varieties that will offer you a range of color, shape, and size options for all your Autumn decorating needs. The stories and history of heirloom varieties are so intriguing that occasionally we select a variety simply for its story.
From spring sow until harvest time in late-August or early September, Aaron Jambura, Harvest Manager at Johnson’s Nursery, undertakes the hard work of growing and tending to the plants. All season long, he faces challenges like woodchucks, flooding, weeds, drought…. you gardeners know the drill.
Finally, when they’re ripe, we harvest from our farm and bring them to you at our Garden Center in Cedarburg. We hope that you enjoy our picturesque “Pumpkin Patch”. We encourage feedback so we can continue bringing interesting and beautiful squash & pumpkins to Cedarburg.

- Rich in antioxidants
- Very high in carotenoids (shown to protect against heart disease)
- High in beta carotene (promotes healthy skin & good vision)
- High in fiber
